The rich mahogany hue of this 1989 Fine & Rare release from The Macallan is the result of decades of time spent maturing in a single European oak sherry butt cask. Distinct aromas of dark cherries, sweet treacle toffee, cacao powder and gingerbread.
On the palate, amaretti biscuits, caramelised pineapple, a sprinkle of demerara sugar and rich treacle tart give way to candied fruits, plum jam and a hint of dark chocolate. The multi layered finish is long and complex. Filled on 12th December 1989 and bottled over 32 years later, this single cask is presented at its natural cask strength.
