The Ladyburn distillery was an expansion of the Girvan distillery, itself built in 1963 by William Grant & Sons Ltd. The Ladyburn malt whisky distillery was created in 1966 with the addition of two pot stills. The malt portion of the distillery was closed in 1975 and demolished in 1976.

The Ladyburn Distillery was built in 1966 by William Grant & Sons in the south of Ayrshire, Scotland. It remained hidden from public view, quiet and invisible, displaying none of the traditional hallmarks of a malt whisky distillery. The final production took place on November 15th 1975.

William Grant & Sons has carried out only a very limited number of bottlings of Ladyburn malt whisky; making it one of the rarest malts in the world. When the distillery ceased promotion the malt master selected the finest remaining casks of Ladyburn and ensured that they be laid down to mature gently. These few casks are the only sign that Ladyburn existed and it’s brief history remains one of the greatest secrets of malt whisky.

This bottle no 9 if cask no 3204 of Ladyburn forms part of a years 2000 Limited Edition of only 3,000 bottles; the first single cask bottling in Ladyburn’s history.
