"A Campbeltown Single Scotch Malt Whisky. Distilled in a Pot Still from Pure 'Barley Malt' only.

The materials used in the manufacture of the Springbank Malt Whisky in this bottle have almost all come from within a radius of eight miles of the Distillery: the barley from Macharioch, Machrimore and Lephenstrath farms, malted at the Distillery using peat for drying from the Aros Moss at the Rhoin and mashed in water from the Rhoin and mashed in water from the Crosshill Loch on the flank of Ben Ghuilean above Limecraigs. The coal used for heating the mashing water and the stills was mined from the Argyll Colliery at Frodigal near Machrihanish. The outstanding exception of the eight-male rule are the Bourbon oak casks in which the whisky lay maturing in the Distillery warehouses.

The whisky has been bottled at the Distillery at its natural cask strength without any chill-filtering, fining or added colouring, which in itself would make the whisky exceptional. The coal mine at Machrihanish has now been closed for many years and there is no prospect of it being reopened ensuring that this whisky is unrepeatable. Cask 1966 489, bottle number 59."
