The remains of this chapel stand just off the beach at Kilchiaran, allegedly where St. Ciaran first made lanfall from Ireland, and the chapel is dedicated to the saint. Kilchiaran is a soulful spot (if bleak in winter) and it's not too hard to imagine Ciaran (an associate of Columba) stepping ashore in this rugged bay, falling to his knees and giving thanks for his delivery from the occean.
